HEAR CHEVAL SOMBRE COVER THE WALKMEN

Cheval Sombre covers The Walkmen’s song ‘Red Moon’ on his forthcoming album ‘Mad Love’, and if you watch the video above you’ll know why it was named as Q magazine’s Track Of The Day yesterday.

‘Red Moon’ is one of three cover versions on ‘Mad Love’, the others being ‘Once I Had A Sweetheart’, a traditional folk song famously interpreted by Pentangle on ‘Basket Of Light’, but which Cheval learned from one of his father’s Joan Baez albums, and Hoagy Carmichael’s standard ‘The Nearness Of You’. The latter has been performed by everyone from Rod Stewart to Norah Jones. We prefer Keith Richards’ version from 1981′s ‘Stone Alone’ bootleg.

Check out ‘Red Moon’ below. ‘Mad Love’ is available for pre-order on CD or LP. Release date is November 5.
