As a spin-off from Sonic Realities – our regular online radio show with Ulrich Schnauss – we have launched a new monthly night at our old haunt The Social in London. Entry is free, doors open at 7.

Called Ambience Chasers, it will feature lots of the music that both myself and Ulrich always seem to play on every episode of Sonic Realities, our default musical setting, namely ambient techno and electronica, but with maybe a few surprises thrown in to keep everyone awake. Or, as we describe it on the poster, an ocean of sound from Aphex to Eno, Terry Riley to Vini Reilly.

Each month we will welcome guest DJs and live acts. The first night – on Tuesday, February 28 – features a DJ set from the man himself, Ulrich Schnauss, and a live set from Immersion – the mimimal techno project of Colin Newman from Wire, and Malka Spigel of Minimal Compact. They released their first album in 17 years, ‘Analogue Creatures Living On An Island’, late last year.

Here’s the Facebook event. Entry is free. Doors open at 7pm and this month we will also be screening Al Reinert’s ‘For All Mankind’ and Godfrey Reggio’s classic ‘Koyaanisqatsi’.

There are 20 hand-printed and numbered copies of the poster for sale on the night and also in the Sonic Cathedral Shop.
