We’re very pleased to finally reveal another rather special one-off release that has been in the pipeline for a while: a Kraftwerk tribute single, featuring two exclusive covers by a couple of our favourite American bands. We love Hütter and the bots and thought this little record would be the next best thing after not being able to afford tickets for their run of shows at the Tate Modern earlier this year.

As premiered by the good folks at The Quietus recently, Disappears take on ‘Trans Europa Express’ (note geeky original German spellings; one of the run-out grooves reads ‘Vorsprung Durch Techno-Pop’, the other ‘Kraft Kase’!) and simultaneously humanise it and make it even colder than the original. No mean feat. Cloudland Canyon, meanwhile, get their Geiger counters all over ‘Radioaktivität’. If that wasn’t enough, both tracks were mastered by none other than Spacemen 3 and Spectrum legend Sonic Boom.

This single is only available on yellow vinyl 7″ and you can pre-order it from the Sonic Cathedral Shop now – initial orders come with a pin badge of the amazing centre label.

The official release date is November 25, the day before Disappears’ show at The Lexington in London, which we are co-promoting. Support on the night is from the equally ace Vision Fortune. Tickets are on sale now.
