The Telescopes released ‘Flying’, their most full-on psychedelic moment to date. It came with classic artwork (courtesy of Designland and photographer Lewis Mulatero) and a classic retina-wrecking video (courtesy of Douglas Hart).

The music press actually had a grudging respect for this one. Melody Maker called it “a circling, burning, mesmerising blur of sound”, while the late Dele Fadele, writing in NME, said it was “a macabre study in trippiness and languid laissez-faire attitudes crossed with an indefinable emotion”.
