Swervedriver released their third EP for Creation Records. It included four new songs, including the nominal title track, ‘Sandblasted’, which sounds exactly like its title – watch the video below.

NME’s Barbara Ellen dismissed the track viciously, saying “if an original thought entered a member of Swervedriver’s head it would doubtless end up as unwanted and terrorised as a canary in a crow’s nest”.

Melody Maker, meanwhile, described it as “a head-on collision between guitars raging for chaos and a song that encompasses both the world-weary and the wonderstruck in time-honoured romantic tradition”.

In an accompanying feature they told Steve Sutherland that they had “as much anger and hate as the Manic Street Preachers, but we’ll just take it out on our instruments rather than making twats of ourselves…”
