Andy Bell single to get cassette and digital release

The debut solo single by Andy Bell, which was originally released late last year as part of the Sonic Cathedral Singles Club, is to be reissued as a limited edition cassette. It will also be available digitally for the first time.

Due to popular demand, ‘Plastic Bag’ and its B-side ‘The Commune’ will be on all digital platforms from Friday, July 10.

In the meantime, the cassette single is available from Bandcamp today (July 3) as part of the Independent Label Market x Bandcamp global label market. There are only 100 copies of the tape and they come in their own bespoke (and biodegradable) Andy Bell plastic bag.

The two songs are low-key, lo-fi, late-night lullabies. ‘Plastic Bag’ fuses fizzing electronics with introspective Big Star Third/Sister Lovers feels, while ‘The Commune’ is a meditative mantra (and prescient lockdown anthem) that mixes up the Plastic Ono Band and Spacemen 3’s The Perfect Prescription.
