The expanded edition of Sennen’s 2005 debut, Widows, is out now. Almost 16 years since it first came out, we are really proud to be once again shining a spotlight on this lost classic – releasing it on (double clear gatefold) vinyl for the first time, as well as on CD and digitally.
The new version adds another seven contemporaneous tracks, many of which were live staples at the time, but have never been widely released before. The whole package has been remastered by Simon Scott from Slowdive.
“Fusing post-rock time signatures with the ethereal beauty of early Ride or Chapterhouse” – Under the Radar
“It’s a great, blurry, guitar record of the Noughties with a line back to the Nineties and very much a record for the early Twenties” – Backseat Mafia
“The wonderfully wide-open Widows sounds so sublime in 2021” – Concrete Islands
“One of the best shoegaze records of all time” – Resident Music
There will be a #TimsTwitterListeningParty for Widows at 8pm (BST) on Tuesday, July 13, where the band will tweet their memories of recording the album back in the heady days of 2005.
Before that, there’s the small matter of their first live performance for five years, which was specially recorded for a Rough Trade Transmissions session. Filmed by Chris Tomsett (Innerstrings) at Goldsmith’s Music Studios in London, the session was broadcast earlier tonight (July 9) via Rough Trade’s Instagram TV and includes songs from the album along with a cover of Big Star’s ‘Nightime’. Watch it again below.
